The Czech Republic does not agree with the extension of the mining permit for the Turów lignite mine
The exploitation works at Turów threat our citizens, our water and our environment. Poland did not allow us to participate in this subsequent permit proceeding that followed up the transboundary EIA process started in 2015 within which the Czech Republic issued a dissenting EIA statement. Afterwards, the Czech Republic also opposed this polish permitting process by an action brought before the Court of Justice of the EU. As we are convinced that the ongoing exploitation in Turów is illegal, we have also asked the Court of Justice to order suspension of exploitation works until issuing its ruling in this case. We are now waiting for the Court of Justice decision.
