Geology and soil
Rocks and soil are environmental components and important parts of ecosystems. They represent a substrate which supports life inside and on top of itself, provides plants with nutrients, and may be a source of harmful substances either natural or of anthropogenic origin. Pollution prevention in the rock and soil environment prevents the transfer of harmful substances to both food chains and aquatic environments, mainly sources of drinking water. Health risk prevention in relation to rock and soil pollution is a crucial component of Act no. 167/2008 Coll. on environmental damage prevention and remedies, amending other acts.
