Crop Research Institute - Reference Laboratory for Identification of GMO

Web site: http://www.vurv.cz

Laboratory carries out identification of GMO in plant material and derived products. Routine evaluation is run using PCR and specific sequences of 35S CaMV promotor, NOS terminator (screening), Roundup Ready and Bt transgenes, NPTII and Bar. Real-Time PCR employing ABI PRISM 7700 Sequencer is used for GMO contents measurement. Roche licensed kit based on 35S CaMV promotor quantification in soybean and corn containing matrices is used.

Further activity is focused on development and application of primers for detection of wide spectrum of plant species (soya, beat, wheat, maize, potato). Contemporary the method for elimination false positive of CaMV promotor (Cauliflower mosaic virus) was tested; it means that the natural occurrence of CaMV promotor element in the plant can be excluded.
