National Institute of Public Health - Accredited Laboratory for Molecular Biological Methods of the Laboratory Department for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Brno

Laboratory serves as National Reference Laboratory for Genetically Modified Foods and it is accredited (under the number 1137) for the following activities:
  • Assisting the Central Reference Laboratory for testing and validation of methods for detection of GMOs according to Commission Regulation (EC) No 1981/2006.
  • Detection and quantification of genetically modified DNA (of maize, soybeans, rice, potato, tomato, papaya) using ISO standard operation procedures since 2002.
  • Development of a new method for the detection of genetically modified papaya.
  • Validation of EU-recommended methods for monitoring and identification of genetically modified higher plants.
  • Ad hoc services for the state administration.

The Laboratory is a member of ENGL (European Network of GMO Laboratories) since 2002.
