Europe discusses regulation on seals product trade
The Czech Presidency is continuing negotiations on the proposal of regulation of the import, export, transit and trading of seal products within, into, and from the European Union that were already initiated in the European Parliament in September 2008. “Our aim is to achieve agreement on a wording that will ensure efficient protection of populations of seals against brutal hunting methods that have long been prohibited in Europe," said EU Environment Council President and the Czech Minister of the Environment, Martin Bursík.
