Film Premiere - Of Bats and Darkness

Film premiere - “Of Bats and Darkness“ - September 8, 2010 at 8pm at the cinema ATLAS, Sokolovská 1, Praha 8. Film will be screened with English subtitles. The discussion with the authors will follow the screening (in Czech). FREE ENTRY.

The movie “Of Bats and Darkness“ was made on the occasion of the 6th Meeting of the Contracting Parties of the Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats (EUROBATS) and the 15th International Bat Research Conference, both held in Prague in the autumn 2010.

Prominent Czech zoologists as well as non-professional bat experts participated in the production of this movie, which was financially supported by the Ministry of the Environment, the Czech Bat Conservation Society and the companies Less a.s. and Kvelb s.r.o. The movie was produced in co-production and co-operation with Czech Television. We believe that this movie will help to recognise the miraculous world of bats and will help raise the profile of these interesting and useful creatures.

The movie is also a celebration of the long-term and systematic work of professional and nonprofessional bat experts. Without their unceasing efforts, revealing discoveries, and endless enthusiasm, the life of bats would remain a hidden secret for the rest of us.
