Mikulov, September 26 – The Carpathians deserve a transportation system sensitive to their valuable landscape, seven states agreed at the 4th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Carpathian Convention [1]. The signed protocol on sustainable freight and passenger transportation along with other strategic documents focused on climate change in the region, sustainable tourism and management of forests, should contribute to the positive development of the largest Euro-region with rich natural and cultural heritage. Representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, Minister of Transportation Antonín Prachař, representatives of the Carpathian Convention signatory countries - Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Serbia, Romania, and the Ukraine, Director of the UNEP Regional Office for Europe and former Minister of the Environment Jan Dusík, and the Secretary of the Carpathian Convention Harald Egerer debated at this year's most important international event in the field of environmental protection held in the Czech Republic.Display the article
